Asker vs Sinsen 'B'
It was a rainy day for ACC's first game on the 2015 season against Sinsen'B' in Rud. Sinsen won the toss and elected to bat on a new pitch. Hamza and Qasim took the new ball for the Asker team. Hamza bowled with plenty of zip. Qasim kept the batsmen playing down the wrong line with his swinging deliveries. Qasim had the first breakthrough getting Waqas caught behind the wicket, Hashir taking a sharp catch. Hamza got a bit too excited with the new ball and ended up bowling yorkers to the keeper Hashir. He was stopped from bowling in his 3rd over, and a promising spell came to an end. Tara continued from last season, bowling tight lines and length. He was soon rewarded with his first wicket of the season. Sai then started his debut spell for Asker. He was a bit short in his first over, but came back strongly in his next spell yorking the batman (Israr claimed credit for this wicket for his advice). Israr and Mehdi then bowled excellently in tandem restricting the well-set Sinsen batsmen. Mehdi in particular stood out , hitting the perfect line, lengths and giving no room to the batsmen. He finished with a miserly economy rate of less than 3 from his 6. Some big hits and dropped catches towards the end meant Sinsen got to 168 off their alloted 30 overs. A decent total but a gettable total for the Asker batting lineup.
When Asker started batting, the first drops of rain began to fall. The Sinsen bowlers made full use of the new ball making the Asker batsman play at everything. Israr was first out, lbw to a sharp in dipper. Tara and Qasim then re-built the innings. The rain started getting a bit heavier and DL calculations soon came into the picture. Asker decided to follow the DL run rate instead of playing for 30 overs. In hindsight, this turned out to be a mistake since the rain stayed away.Tara was out trying to up the run-rate, followed soon by Qasim. At this point, it looked as if it it was going to rain heavily any moment. Khayyam stuck a couple of good blows. The other batsmen however could not stick around and a parade of batsmen followed. Asker was all out for 45 ending the day on a sad note.
